Privacy policy

Privacy and advertising, explained plainly.

Effective date: July 29, 2026. This policy applies to Potting Journal and should be read with our Cookie Policy.

Who we are

Potting Journal is an independent plant and gardening publication. For privacy questions or requests, contact hello@pottingjournal.com.

Information you provide

When you contact us, we receive the information you choose to send, such as your name, email address, and message. We use this information only to respond, manage corrections, protect the site, or meet legal obligations.

Current advertising and analytics status

Potting Journal uses Google Analytics 4 to understand broad site usage, such as page views, referring sources, device and browser information, scrolls, outbound clicks, and general engagement patterns. The site loads the Google tag with analytics storage denied by default. Analytics cookies and storage are enabled only if a visitor chooses to allow analytics in the on-site privacy choice.

Potting Journal does not currently load Google AdSense, newsletter, advertising, or tracking-pixel services. We do not intentionally send names, email addresses, contact-form messages, or other directly identifying contact details to Google Analytics.

When advertising is activated

If Google AdSense is added later, third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads, including ads based on a visitor's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google requires publishers to clearly disclose this use. Visitors can manage or opt out of personalized advertising through Google Ads Settings and may also visit YourAdChoices.

Before advertising services are enabled, this policy, the Cookie Policy, and the site's consent controls will be updated with the active providers, purposes, data categories, retention information, and available choices. We do not sell personal information in exchange for money.

EEA, UK, and Switzerland visitors

Visitors can decline analytics from the on-site privacy choice. If personalized Google ads are served to visitors in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland in the future, the live site will use a Google-certified consent management platform integrated with the IAB Europe Transparency and Consent Framework, currently TCF v2.3, where required. Visitors will be able to accept, decline, manage, and later revisit their choices through the live site's privacy controls.

Retention and security

We keep contact information only for as long as needed to handle the request, maintain records, or meet legal obligations. No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we use reasonable measures to protect information under our control.

Your choices and rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or information about personal data. Contact us using the email above. We may need to verify a request before responding.

Changes to this policy

We may update this page as the publication or its services change. The effective date at the top will show when it was last revised.
