Dry soil is the simple droop, but still check properly

Dry-root droop is common and usually reversible when caught early. The pot feels light, the lower mix is dry, leaves may feel thin or limp, and some plants recover within hours after a thorough watering.

Water slowly until the root ball is evenly moistened and excess drains from the hole. If water rushes around the edge and out the bottom while the center stays dry, the mix may have become hydrophobic. Soak the pot briefly or water in several passes, then let it drain well.

Wet roots can droop even when the pot is full of water

A plant can droop in heat even when the pot is not fully dry. Hot windows, strong afternoon sun, heat vents, and very dry indoor air can make leaves lose water faster than roots can replace it. Many plants perk up when light softens or the room cools.

Look for timing. Afternoon droop that improves overnight often points to environmental stress. Move the plant out of hot direct sun, away from vents, or slightly back from glass. Keep useful light, but reduce heat load.

Roots, pots, and repotting can trigger droop

Some drooping is normal movement

Not every lower leaf angle is a problem. Some plants move leaves through the day. Prayer plants and some relatives raise and lower leaves with daily light cycles. A peace lily may visibly droop when dry, then perk up after watering, but repeated collapse is still stressful.
