Our purpose

Potting Journal publishes practical information to help readers care for plants and make better home-gardening decisions. We do not publish content simply to fill search results or imitate competing sites.

Research and writing

Each guide is designed around a real reader question. Articles should use reliable horticultural sources where factual claims need support, explain relevant conditions, and separate general advice from plant-specific requirements.

We use AI-assisted tools only as part of a supervised editorial workflow. Every published guide must be reviewed for accuracy, usefulness, originality, and clear sourcing before publication.

Source hierarchy

For plant facts, safety notes, toxicity, pests, diseases, and treatment guidance, we prefer university extension services, botanical gardens, government agencies, professional organizations, peer-reviewed research, and original manufacturer documentation where relevant. Competitor articles may help reveal reader questions or formatting gaps, but they are not treated as horticultural authority.

Pre-publication review

Before a guide is published, we check the intent, factual claims, source list, title and meta description, headings, internal links, image accuracy, visible dates, author/reviewer attribution, schema, and mobile readability. A guide should answer the reader's first decision early and then explain limits, mistakes to avoid, and next actions.

Authors and accountability

Saleem Sial, Founder & Publisher, leads editorial strategy and publication standards. Arshad Sial, Contributing Editor, supports research and guide review. Each material guide will identify its author and show a published or updated date.

Updates and corrections

Gardening guidance changes with new evidence, growing conditions, and reader feedback. We review material pages periodically and update them when a correction or substantial improvement is needed. Material updates are reflected in the page's updated date.

Correction log

No material public corrections are currently recorded. When a factual correction materially changes a guide, the page will be updated and the correction context will be added where it helps readers understand the change.

Recommendations and commercial relationships

Recommendations must be useful to the reader and grounded in the editorial content. Advertising, affiliate links, gifted products, and sponsored content, when used, will be identified clearly. Commercial relationships do not buy a positive conclusion or editorial control.

Originality

We do not republish, lightly rewrite, scrape, or translate other publishers' work as original content. Sources can inform a guide, but the published piece must provide its own research, explanation, organization, and practical value.
